Short Report Ubley Parish Council 7th March 2019

Short Report for the Ubley Parish Council Meeting held on 7th March 2019

Your Parish needs you!

The Parish Council has pledged its support to the “Great British Spring Clean”, organised by Keep Britain Tidy in conjunction with B&NES. On Saturday 13th April, we would like as many parishioners as possible to join us as we collect litter from around the village and also clear gullies and ditches that are blocked. Rubbish bags will be provided and there will be refreshments afterwards. Please contact the Chairman or Clerk or just turn up. Your help will be gratefully received.

The Parish Council has also signed up to the Plastic Free BathNES Pledge initiative which aims to reduce the levels of single-use plastics locally and increase the use of reusable alternatives. More details to follow.

Elections

The Election of District and Parish Councillors is taking place on Thursday 2nd May; unless these positions are uncontested. For more information please visit Ubley Parish Council’s website www.ubleyparish.co.uk and/or www.bathnes.gov.uk/services/your-council-and-democracy/elections/parish-town-council-elections.

Highways

There is to be a meeting of the Chairman and Vice-chairman with two officers from B&NES regarding the speed limits in and around the village. This will take place in April.

House Signage

The Parish Council has received a request that, as houses in Ubley do not have numbers, clear House Name signs should be visible from the road, to assist delivery drivers.

Police and Neighbourhood watch

Parishioners are again reminded to be wary of any unexpected callers offering goods or services.  Always use tradespeople who have been recommended by a trusted source and never pay cash in advance.

Playground

The Play Area Group is now formally constituted and has made great progress. The Diocese has given its support for siting a Playground in the Glebe Field, which is permitted under the Lease agreement. A drop-in session is being held on the 23rd March between 2pm and 6pm in St Bartholomew’s Church where the Group is presenting the plans for villagers to have their say.

Further information regarding meetings and draft minutes are published on the website www.ubleyparish.co.uk within a few weeks of each meeting. The next meetings will be the Annual Parish Meeting on Thursday 4th April and the Annual General meeting on Thursday 9th May.
